The 432 Park Avenue tower is a residential building located in the midtown area, in the borough of Manhattan, New York. With 1397 feet, it is the third tallest building in the United States and the second tallest in New York City.

It is considered the tallest residential building in the world. It has such a long form that its height/width ratio is 1/15.

The residential offer

Located in an upscale neighborhood, at 432 Park Avenue, between 56th and 57th East Streets, it is one of the most select and prestigious buildings in New York.

The building has 85 floors and 3 basements. Each floor has a surface area of 368 m² and each of the 4 sides of these floors has 6 large bay windows of 3 m by 3 m. For each of the 88 floors, the ceiling height is 3.80 m.

The architect Deborah Berke and the agency Bentel & Bentel were responsible for the interior design. There are more than 100 apartments. These apartments range from small studios of 32 m² to large apartments with 6 bedrooms.

The construction of the tower required the demolition of the Drake Hotel, a legendary building built in 1926 where celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Mohamed Ali, Jimi Hendrix or Glenn Gould resided.

In 2006, the Drake Hotel was purchased for $440 million by real estate developer Harry Macklowe, who was behind the 432 Park Avenue tower project. The hotel was demolished the following year and architect Rafael Vinoly designed the new 432 Park Avenue building.

If you look at the height of its roof, this skyscraper is the tallest in New York. In fact, skyscrapers that are taller than it is only able to do so because of their antennas. Its construction began in September 2011 and its roof was officially completed on October 10, 2014.

The finishing touches lasted until the end of 2015. The first apartments began occupancy in early 2016.
