With a 5-mile beach, it attracts about 3.8 million tourists each year. Visitors flock here for swimming and bodyboarding. Surfing and fishing are also popular in the area.
Each site has concessions, beach shops, first aid offices, comfort stations and private outdoor showers.
Fields 2, 3 and 4 have picnic areas with grills and tables to enjoy with family, friends or groups.
The famous Pitch & Putt welcomes golfers from early April to mid-November. If you prefer volleyball, you can play on the available courts east of Democrat Point.
The park office sells a range of permits (fishing, surfing, stargazing, etc.) to help visitors make the most of their beach experience.
Spend a fun time exploring nearby towns like Kismet and Saltaire from the east car park. Children will be amazed at this large playground on the side of Lot 5.
How to get there?
The park is accessible by car from the Robert Moses Causeway, which connects Fire Island to the Long Island mainland. To reach Robert Moses from Manhattan by car, allow approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are four separate parking lots, including 2, 4 and 5, which can accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles, and lot 3, which has about 500 spaces.
Suffolk Transit’s S47 route also serves the beach seasonally with the Babylon Long Island train station.
