Coney Island is located in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, just minutes from Manhattan. The area is bounded by Sea Gate to the west, Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach to the east, Lower New York Bay to the south and Gravesend to the north.
Presentation of Coney Island Beach
Along with Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach and Brighton Beach, Coney Island is one of the three most beautiful beaches in the area. It is the best known and attracts a large number of tourists and local residents every year.
Located near the famous Luna Park amusement park, the area is easily accessible. Coney Island’s huge, sandy beach is over 6 kilometres long and 1 kilometre wide. It is kept clean and regularly maintained by the city.
Sports enthusiasts will have plenty to do with the beach volleyball, handball and basketball courts available on the beach. If you come with your children, you can have fun with the whole family on the playgrounds and rides. Or enjoy a nice walk in the sun. However, this is not possible from 1 to 5 in the evening.
To cool off, head to Coney’s Cones ice cream parlour for a delicious ice cream.

New events throughout the year
Many events are held on Coney Island beach such as the summer AVP professional volleyball tournament. CIBBOWS (Coney Island Brighton Beach Open Water Swimmers) schedules several open water races each year.
With its range of activities, it’s easy to see why Coney Island has become a top summer holiday destination. But even if you come in the off-season, the possibilities are still endless with the New York Aquarium, the Abe Stark Ice Rink, or the MCU Park baseball stadium (formerly KeySpan Park).
Coney Island USA produces various events throughout the year, such as the Coney Island Mermaid Parade in May or June, the Tattoo and Motorcycle Festival in August or September, and the Coney Island Film Festival and Creepshow to celebrate Halloween in October.
Thor Equities also hosts the annual Coney Art Walls exhibition, which showcases mural art by more than 30 artists.
