Brighton Beach, nicknamed “Little Odessa”, is a neighbourhood in the southernmost part of the borough of Brooklyn in New York, along the Coney Island peninsula.
Presentation of Brighton Beach
Since the beginning of the 20th century, a language from the land of the Tsars has echoed through the streets of this neighbourhood. It feels like Russia in Brooklyn, as Brighton Beach is known to be home to a population of Russian-speaking immigrants, mainly from Russia and Ukraine.
But what makes it even more popular and attractive is its diverse programme. Tourists flock to enjoy its beaches and Coney Island’s outstanding theme parks. How can you miss the countless rides at the iconic Luna Park…
The beaches are beautiful and the landscaped boardwalk invites you to stroll along the waterfront. In this pleasant part of New York, holidaymakers can visit restaurants and bars before heading to the park further afield. You can take a wellness break at the VK Skin SPA or the Araaragot Float Center For Harmonic Consciousnesses, an unusual place with a cosmic setting.
Lovers of cultural art and modern or folk dance will be delighted by the programme of the Brighton Ballet Theatre (BBT | The School of American Russian Ballet). Each year the school offers two major productions and several special event presentations. It hosts the annual children’s festival “The World of Dance” and performances of The Nutcracker. Alternatively, from June to August, the BBT runs an intensive summer dance programme.

How to get there?
An hour from Manhattan, Brighton Beach is accessible from the New York City underground via the B line. Buses serving the area include B1, B36 and B68.
As soon as you step off the underground, you enter another world where a very special atmosphere prevails. This is what makes Brighton Beach a must-see destination for New York residents during the summer season, with some visitors sitting on camping chairs and having a good time under the generous sun. In short, this place promises an absolute change of scenery.
