Aloft New York Chelsea is a brand new hotel, having opened its doors in November 2023. Located at 132 West 28th Street in New York’s Chelsea district, this modern hotel caters for guests looking for contemporary accommodation in a convenient location for exploring Manhattan.
Background to the test
We tested the Aloft New York Chelsea on 14 November 2024. Our stay took place on the 28th floor, in room 2803, a King-Size bed – City View room measuring 20 m². The rate was $369 per night, excluding breakfast. This room offers a breathtaking view of the city, including the Summit and the Edge terrace.

The decoration of the room is simple and modern, reflecting the contemporary spirit of the hotel. Although the room is compact at 20 m², we found the space well arranged, offering appreciable comfort for a short stay in New York.
The hotel offers excellent bedding with a comfortable mattress, guaranteeing a good night’s sleep after a day’s sightseeing. A major advantage is the calm that reigns in the room: no noise from the air conditioning or from outside disturbs your rest, which is rare in New York.
The bathroom, though small, is functional. However, the absence of a shower head may surprise some travellers. What’s more, the limited space over the sink may pose a problem for putting your toiletries on.
The breakfast included in the rate is a nice touch, giving you a good start to the day before setting off to explore the city. Despite its recent opening, we noticed some signs of wear and tear in the communal areas, which could be a cause for concern for the future.
